Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then located multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police say preliminary tests show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are presently not aware of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for tips.
A senior representative said the vandalism made him without words and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right attack five years ago," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
