A man who spiked candy with tranquilliser and provided them to minors at a summer program in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two boys who were nine and ten years old.
The defendant was taken into custody after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at the location in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
Nevertheless, he denied one particular crime he was charged with, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was held in detention before a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, handling the case, outlined the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She stated his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a youth camp which he managed.
Ruben engaged in a "sweet game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior said, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She told the court the defendant had played this game with the boys "repeatedly", and children had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She said the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had concerns in July 2025.
Mrs Prior KC added: "This year his stepchild had worries about the situation, for good reason.
"They resolved" to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC explained objects including lubricant, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson notified the law enforcement about his worries.
She stated Ruben went on to play the "sweet game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that time," she added.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, had stated that it was examining the police response of the events.
Mrs Prior stated the youngsters were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson called the authorities a second time.
She stated Ruben then conducted the "candy game" in a space of five youngsters.
